A part of four generations that has called Alamance County home, Sean Boone was born in 1968 at the Alamance County Hospital on Graham-Hopedale Road in Burlington, N.C.  The oldest of three children (along with his brother, Jason, and sister, Amanda), Sean grew up in Northern Alamance County where he and his siblings were raised by their parents, Thurman "Pop" Boone and Jane Boone. 

“Pop” Boone, worked for many years at Burlington Industries before taking a position with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Department, where he retired from officially in 2011 but continued to work part time for years after. Sean's mother Jane Boone taught in the Alamance-Burlington School system for over 25 years, teaching her first year at Southern Middle School before spending the majority of her career at E.M. Holt Elementary. She later taught at Graham Middle School before retiring in 2011.

Sean attended schools in the Western District: Clover Garden Elementary, Western Middle School, and Western Alamance High School, where he graduated in 1986. As a teenager, he worked as a busboy for Johnny Bakatsias at Western Charcoal Steak House in Burlington. After graduating from high school, Sean attended N.C. State, and during summers between classes at N.C. State, Sean worked in local companies to earn money for school. He worked two summers at Glen Raven Mills, where his grandfather, Jeep May, worked for over 40 years before retiring. He spent another summer working at Copland Fabrics, and another at A.O. Smith in Mebane. After earning his Bachelor's degree, Sean stayed at N.C. State to earn his Master's Degree in English.

After working for a year following graduation, Sean entered the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law. As a law student, Sean began prosecuting cases in Alamance County Courts in 1996 while interning for District Attorney Steve Balog; the next year, following graduation from law school, Sean was hired as an Assistant District Attorney by the new District Attorney, Rob Johnson. For the next 18 years Sean served Alamance County as a prosecutor. In 2013, Sean was blessed to marry his wife Dodie and also to become a Stepdad to her son, Liam. 

Sean's wife Dodie grew up in Graham and graduated from Graham High School in 1990 before attending and graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1994. She has worked for Hunt Electric Supply in Burlington, NC for the last 23 years. Dodie is past president of the Humane Society of Alamance County, and continues to be active in animal-related charities. She was recently appointed to serve on the Alamance County Library Board. 

Liam is currently in 6th grade, where he is active in the school Battle of the Books team and the band.  

Sean and his family attend St. Mark's Church in Burlington, NC.

A member of Bula Lodge 409, AF & AM, in Burlington, Sean went through the chairs and served as Master of the Lodge in 2007. 

Sean and his family live in Southern Alamance County, along with their black lab, Liberty ("Bertie" for short), and 3 cats.
